Module 5-Conflict

A great tool for Principals to have at their disposal, especially during ISRC or IPRC.

Module 3-Principal as Curriculum Leader

Ontario's Ministry Of Education site has a 'leadership development' subsection, and a variety of tip sheets, called 'Principals Want to Know.' Each tip sheet features a question from a principal and then provides tips for success. Tip sheet topics from Using EQAO data to differentiating Instruction to Supporting Implementation of Revised Curriculum Policy DOcuments.

The Ontario Institute for Education Leadership and the Ontario Leadership Framework is a necessary tools for administrators. More specifically, 'Improving the Instructional Program' competency is especially significant for the Principal as a curriculum Leader.

The Inclusive Schools Network (ISN) is a web-based educational resource for families, school, and communities that promotes inclusive educational practices. The above link is an article that speaks of 'The Principal's Responsibilities in Supporting Quality Instruction.'

Module 2-Communication with Stakeholders

This guide for member of school council, including the Principal, has categories which include communication. furthermore, the guide has useful communication tips for both elementary and secondary schools.

A website from New Zealand's Ministry of Education, 'Educational Leaders' offers any array of fantastic communication strategies.

The National School Public Relations Association has developed a page within their main website that addresses communication tips for Principals. Additionally, they have provided administrators with additional information on 'Making Parent Communication Effective and Easy'. This area may be useful to share with teachers. 

Module 1-OPC and other websites

Five key items the OPC does for its members:

 •   advocate on behalf of public education 
 •   provide professional growth opportunities for principals and vice-principals 

Other Sites:
Ontario's Ministry of Education site has a wealth of resources for school administrators. Under the 'Secondary subheading on the left of the main page, administrators will find many links to various publications and other resources (online). The 'Leadership Development' section via 'Popular Topics' is especially useful.

The Institute of Education Leadership - The Institute for Education Leadership (IEL) is a virtual organization which is made up of representatives from Ontario's principals' and supervisory officers' associations, councils of directors of education, and the Ministry of Education. The institute is committed to exploring leading-edge thinking on education leadership and applying that expertise to develop high-quality resources and learning opportunities for school, board and system leaders.

Get a twitter handle, event if you know you will not tweet/don't believe in social media for education, etc. Follow some well known leaders in education and educational administration such as George and Alec Couros, perhaps leadership development officials in your respective school boards. Peel DSB has a fab Leadership Development Officer - Luciana Cardarelli - she tweets some great stuff for school leaders!
